"Dr. Marco Abafada
Associate Director, Psychiatry
The Eaves
3.14 La Hacienda Drive Suite 202
Los Angeles, CA 2.17675
Dear Dr. Abafada:
I've sat at this desk for an hour trying to think of ways to thank you for all the help you've given me over the last several years.
How you helped me find my way out of resistive catatonia, and how you and the staff cared for me as I struggled to recover all my memories, dreams, reflections! It's just more than I can imagine, much less thank you for adequately.
I don't know how you found out that my "hallucinations" came from deep trauma over childhood sexual abuse by my father (if you can call Hank that), nor do I know why this discovery forced you to re-examine the way you treat patients like me.
But I do know this: you empathized with my condition so completely, and you created a beautiful role-playing game for us to use as I worked my way through out-patient care. For all that and more, you deserve the Nobel, my dear doctor.
Now that I'm about to complete my own medical residency and begin the study of my specialty (I only hope I work under you someday), I want to tell you that I'm not about to give up our little hobby.
But as one chapter closes and another begins, let me just say that I now realize that all you truly need is love.
And I love you, my friend.
Sincerely,
Constance Marie 'Buffy Anne' Summers
P.S.: It's great to be normal again."
